OSHA has scheduled a public meeting for June 12 to discuss proposals ahead of the 35th session of the United Nations Sub-Committee of Experts on the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals.

According to a notice published in the May 17 Federal Register, OSHA and the U.S. Interagency Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals Coordinating Group will consider the comments and information gathered when developing the federal government’s positions for the UNSCEGHS meeting, set for July 4-6 in Geneva, Switzerland.

The Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration also will host a public meeting on June 12 to discuss proposals in preparation for the 53rd session of the United Nations Sub-Committee of Experts on the Transport of Dangerous Goods, scheduled for June 25-July 4 in Geneva, Switzerland.

PHMSA’s meeting is slated for 9 a.m.-noon Eastern, followed by OSHA’s at 1-4 p.m. Eastern. Both will be at the Department of Transportation headquarters.

OSHA’s meeting agenda includes a review of working papers, correspondence group updates and a Regulatory Cooperation Council update. PHMSA is requesting comments relative to “potential new work items that may be considered for inclusion in its international agenda.” The agency also will provide an update on recent actions “to enhance transparency and stakeholder interaction through improvements to the international standards portion of its website.”

DOT asks that attendees pre-register for the meetings, which will have call-in availability and Skype capability.
